When you hear, you forget. When you see, you remember. When you do, you understand.

This is the principle upon which we have created MeraBills, a business management tool that is simple to use and easy to teach. It can be used by non-profits and government skilling agencies to foster financial health, run empowerment programmes and create sustainable livelihoods in underserved communities.  MeraBills enables organisations to promote financial literacy through product literacy.

MeraBills helps organisations create and support interventions that enable their beneficiaries to become self reliant.

Technology, training and support, and a dedicated Account Manager are some of the key resources offered by us to our development partners. In addition, our dashboards and analytics help track each cohort and measure outcomes of interventions.

When the beneficiary uses MeraBills consistently, her understanding of business concepts improves. The app helps her grasp the concept of profit and loss, and assists in the making of prudent decisions about borrowing, expenditures, etc. Most importantly, MeraBills helps create an overall sense of confidence, accomplishment and pride.

Entrepreneurship skilling and us

MeraBills has partnered with NGOs and Government bodies working with marginalised communities in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Assam. Women entrepreneurship organisations in Karnataka, Maharashtra and across India have trained budding businesswomen in the use of MeraBills with great success.

Digital Empowerment Foundation

Meenakshi, 26 from Barmer, Rajasthan, has always had the desire to do something to support her family Although she operates a tailoring shop where she sells clothing, blouses, etc., managing the finances is always a challenge for her. She always has to depend on others to look after her accounts.

Meenakshi was introduced to a digital bookkeeping app called MeraBills. After receiving the training, she found it very easy to use. In addition to reminders, financial reports, and the ability to easily feed debits and credits amounts, she no longer requires assistance with her finances.

She says, “Now I’m able to take money from my creditor and keep monthly accounts of my deposits.” In addition to expanding her shop, Meenakshi is preparing to apply for a loan through MeraBills, something that was very difficult earlier because she had no proof of her financial records.

Buzz Women

As part of our financial literacy and entrepreneurship development programme we at Buzz Women provide doorstep access to knowledge, skills and tools for low-income women to build their capacity in financial management and business.

One of the tools that we encourage the women to take up is maintaining books of accounts for their business and their household. Unfortunately, we have not found great success in them doing so using paper and pen.

When I found out about MeraBills, I was excited for the women that we serve to try it out and am hopeful that they will find it easier to do so using the app.

We have heard positive feedback from businesswomen who have been able to recover old dues and now manage their finances better because of the MeraBills. We hope we can scale this to all the businesswomen in our network.
